Salvia: Trip Report #1

Posted by GuerrilleroHeroico - January 19th, 2013

I had my first experience with Salvia Divinorum last night. It was a very pleasant, almost euphoric experience so I decided to start logging my trips so that I can both remember them and share them with others. I'm probably going to continue smoking it about once a week but no more than that.

The Sage:
I bought a half gram of Salvia Zone brand extract. The concentration is yellow, or 28 mg/gram salvinorum. This is between 5x and 10x.

Ingestion:
I used my mini steamroller pipe and an ordinary Bic lighter. I used a small wad of paper and tobacco to stop the sage from falling into the pipe. If you use a pipe I strongly recommend getting a pipe screen instead of using this method. This method certainly works but between my friend and I we wasted a good pinch of extract that got sucked into the pipe without being vaporized. We went into my car at night, covered the windshield, and listened to some relaxing music to calm down a little first. The smoke itself was very smooth. I found it easier to hit than cannabis or even tobacco. I felt nothing on the first hit, probably because I coughed out the smoke a bit too soon. On the second huge hit I looked out into the distance at two lights. I felt a slight body high but assumed that it was my imagination and not the sage kicking in. I was about to ask my friend to hand me the pipe so that I could pack another bowl when suddenly it hit me. I had enough time to say "oh shit I'm tripping" before I was gone.

The Trip:
The two lights I saw in the distance became four, arranged in a square pattern. They became stars with spiral arms and began rotating slowly in opposite directions. Four sections of my body rotated with them until I felt them ripping apart and liquefying. A rainbow fabric of energy appeared to my left, extending from the center of the square and continuing for infinity, which I thought was the fabric of space time itself. My head twisted to the left and poked through it as the lights in the distance turned into rushing, multicolored stars. This was the most awesome part of the trip, I felt as if I was viewing another universe completely beyond human comprehension. I can not even articulate how amazing it felt. I perceived a blue face of light in the distance, between the square of stars. The face was not human and for some reason I decided that it was a mother goddess. She did not speak to me, or even make words appear in my head, but I knew that she was telling me to let go so that I could journey through the higher dimension I saw beyond the fabric of space time. At this point, my head had twisted so far to the left that I hit the window of my car. I could still see space beyond the car window but I became aware that my body hadn't been completely dissolved, so I could not continue. At this point my friend patted my side because he thought I was scared, which I felt made my trip less intense. I frantically tried to describe to him what I was seeing which didn't help either. I felt my body stretch long ways and drummed my foot on the front seat of my car because I thought if I made the car rip apart I could leave. The last experience I felt was the right side of my face peeling away and one of my teeth flying out. That was the only part of the trip that scared me, though it wasn't painful. After that I resumed staring straight ahead and the visions faded away until suddenly I was back on Earth. This all happened very fast and my friend told me that my trip only lasted a little over two minutes. At first I was so amazed that I couldn't stop giggling, and I had a pleasant afterglow for about an hour after the trip. It was easier to fall asleep that night and easier to wake up in the morning. I still feel good. I don't know if it's a placebo effect or I'm one of the people that it has an antidepressant effect on but I don't really care either way.

Conclusion:
Next time I'll have to get a pipe screen and remind my friend not to mess with me even if I look like I'm scared. I'm also interested in experimenting with slightly higher doses or getting a good water pipe and torch lighter so that I can have a trip longer than a few minutes. All in all, it was a very positive experience. The trip and the lingering euphoria were better than being drunk or high, and there were no negative side effects that I could see. It's even 100% legal. The only negative is the possibility of having a bad trip and that definitely wasn't my case, at least this time.
